2020 CHRIS PRESTON WINTER HANDICAP COMPETITION
Dear athletes, coaches and supporters.
It's that time of year again to organise and throw in a team competition with light hammers in the annual Chris Preston Winter Handicap.
The Winter Handicap gives you and your colleagues a chance to throw, and your team score (teams of four) will be ranked against other teams from across the country. Prizes will be awarded at the Hammer Circle Reunion in Hull in October.
The Winter Handicap has run a long time now and I will be very pleased to see lots of competition! In recent years UK Olympians and internationals, novice throwers and Masters have all taken part in the Winter Handicap.
The rules and handicap document is attached – but just to emphasise:
· The competition will take place in February if possible, or early March otherwise depending on track availability, weather etc.
· It’s a more informal competition so it can be conducted by a Level 2 coach or official
· Where possible all team members should compete in the same comp on the same day
· Clubs can enter more than one team
· Composite teams not competing at the same venue or at the same time will be recognised, but NOT included in the Winter Handicap Competition
· You don’t have to be a member of the Hammer Circle to participate in this competition so please encourage other athletes in your training groups and clubs to compete.
I will be collating the results this year – taking over from our former and much-missed Winter Handicap Secretary Bob Welfare.
THE CLOSING DATE FOR RETURNING THE RESULTS WILL BE 30 MARCH 2020.
PLEASE EMAIL RESULTS BACK TO ME AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AT

Good luck!
